FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions):

What is Loan Servicing's turnaround time for questions regarding my loan?

Our turnaround time is 24 hours. We ask that you please do not continuously follow up on emails/calls until you have heard from us.

I sent my payment to The Federal Savings Bank but it's due to the final investor, what do I do?

There are no actions that you need to take. The Loan Servicing Team will overnight your payment that is due to the final investor. This will happen every Thursday of the month.

Can I pay over the phone?

No, we do not accept first payments over the phone or by credit card. Please find our accepted payments below:

  • Personal or Cashier's Check
  • Money Order
  • Bill pay through your personal bank
  • ACH Electronic Check
  • NOTE: Online payments and payments over the phone are not available payment options at this time.

Where do I send my first payment?

All first payments should be sent to:

The Federal Savings Bank
ATTN: Loan Servicing
4120 W Diversey Ave STE C501
Chicago, IL 60639-2399

Who do I make my check out to?

All first payments are due to The Federal Savings Bank. If you are sending in a payment via personal check, cashier's check, or money order, you should make those out to: The Federal Savings Bank.

The servicer for my loan has already changed, is my first payment still due to The Federal Savings Bank?

Yes, all payments are still to be sent to The Federal Savings Bank. In the event that the servicer changes prior to the first payment, Loan Servicing will handle the forwarding of your payment on your behalf.

What happens if I sent my payment to the investor instead of The Federal Savings Bank?

There are two options to correct this:

  1. We will have the funds reversed by the investor, then you would pay us.
  2. We will have you pay The Federal Savings Bank on the 1st of next month. Meaning, you sent your first payment due on September 1 to the investor instead of The Federal Savings Bank. We will simply then have you make your October 1 payment to us instead.

When are payments considered late?

Payments must be received by the 15th of the month that it is due.

What happens when my taxes and/or insurance did not get paid?

The Loan Servicing Team will research the loan and decide the best course of action. NOTE: That this may include your involvement. If your involvement is required, we will let you know immediately to correct the issue.

If you currently have a membership with the United Services Automobile Association, more commonly known as USAA, or you plan to do business with someone who banks at USAA Federal Savings Bank, you’ll need to locate the bank’s routing number. Unlike bigger banks that have several routing numbers, there is only one USAA Federal Savings Bank routing number. USAA provides banking services to its members, which include active and retired members of the U.S. military and their families.

USAA Routing Number

USAA makes it easy to know your routing number, as it’s the same for every state. The USAA Routing Number is 314074269.

What Is a USAA Routing Number?

Routing numbers have several names including ABA numbers or bank transit routing numbers. The Federal U.S. Reserve assigns a special nine-digit code to each financial institution, and this code is the routing number.

USAA bank, which is an online-only bank, has just one routing number. Other banks and credit unions might have multiple branches in several states, which means their banks will have more than one routing number. When you make a request to transfer funds electronically or through paper checks, your bank will use the routing number to know exactly where to send the money.

Must-Read: Don’t Get Caught in These Check Scams

What Does Your USAA Routing Number Mean?

To understand the importance of a routing number, you need to break down what each of the nine digits mean. The Federal Reserve uses the first two digits of the routing number to show which of the twelve Federal Reserve Districts the financial institution is located in. For example, the number 05 is associated with Richmond, while the number 11 would be referring to Dallas. The next two digits are used to identify the regional processing center and the bank’s location. Together, the first four numbers are called the Federal Reserve Processing Symbol.

Digits five through eight are used to identify the specific bank, such as USAA, Chase or TD Bank. The last digit is called the “check digit,” because it helps prevent fraud and ensures that the entire routing number is valid. It’s automatically generated using a mathematical algorithm.

USAA Routing Numbers for International Wire Transfers

USAA Savings Bank customers will use the same routing number for checks, ACH transfers such as direct deposits and international wire transfers; however, this is not always the case with other banks. Some banks choose to issue one routing number for their paper products — checks, for example — and another routing number for electronic transactions, such as wire transfers.

Another number often required when sending international wire transfers is a SWIFT Code. USAA does not use a SWIFT Code, but other financial institutions do. Each SWIFT Code is made up of either eight or 11 characters that include a combination of letters and numbers. Always check with the bank or credit union you plan on using to see if they have a SWIFT Code for international wire transfers.

If you have at least one checking account or another type of bank account, then it helps to know how to find this information when you need it.

What Is a Routing Number?

A bank routing number is a nine-digit number that identifies which financial institution is responsible for the payment of a financial instrument. In other words, it’s the number banks use to identify themselves. The American Bankers Association developed the ABA routing number system in 1910 as a way to tell one bank from another.

The ABA routing number system covers federally and state-chartered banks and financial institutions that process check transactions. It also extends to banks that participate in other activities, such as automated clearinghouses, electronic funds transfers and online banking.

If your bank or credit union maintains an account with the Federal Reserve Bank, then it has an ABA routing number. In fact, only financial institutions that meet this requirement and have a federal or state charter can apply for a routing number with the ABA.

The U.S. is the only country that uses routing numbers to identify banks what is the capital of western australia sending and receiving money. Foreign banks use something called IBAN instead, which is short for International Bank Account Number.

How to Find Your American federal savings bank routing number Number on a Check

If your checking account comes with paper checks, this is the first place you can look for your bank routing number. So where is the routing number on a check?

When you look at the front of a check, you’ll see a space at the bottom with a row of numbers. Specifically, you should see three groups of numbers, separated by a space or special character.

Looking at the bottom of the check, the first group of numbers (labeled “1” in the image above) is the bank routing number. Again, an easy way to tell if it’s your bank routing number is to count the digits and confirm that there are nine. If there are more or american federal savings bank routing number than nine digits, odds are you’re looking at your checking account number (labeled “2” above).

How to Find Your Routing Number Online

If you have a checkless checking account or you’ve run out of checks, finding your bank routing number may be as simple as visiting your bank’s website.

Banks and credit unions can publish their routing numbers online as a convenience to mbt bank accounts. Unlike a bank account number, a bank routing number is public information and doesn’t need to be secured or protected.

You may be able to find this number right on the main homepage of the bank’s website. But, if not, you may be able to log in to your account online or via mobile banking to check the routing number.

A third way to get your bank routing number when you don’t have checks or it’s not published online is to simply contact the bank.

A teller should be able to provide your bank’s routing number over the phone, in person or at the drive-through window. This option is helpful if you want to be able to read the routing number back to them to verify that it’s correct.

How to Find Your Bank Account Number

If you’re entering your bank routing number for financial transactions, then you’ll most likely need to provide your checking account number as well. Again, there are a few ways to find this information if you don’t have it readily available.

How to Find Your Bank Account Number on a Check

As mentioned, there are three sets of numbers printed at the bottom of paper checks. The first is the check routing number that’s used to identify your bank.

The second set of numbers should be your checking account number. This number may be anywhere from eight to 12 digits, depending on your bank or credit union.

Your checking account number should be distinct from the routing number. The last set of numbers on your check represents the check number (labeled “3” in the image above). This is typically fewer digits than either the bank routing number or checking account number.

How to Find Your Bank Account Number Online

Getting your bank account number online can be tricky, as banks and credit unions may encrypt this information to protect against fraud or identity theft. For example, when you log in to online or mobile banking, you may only see the last four digits of your account number displayed. Some banks, however, display the full bank account number online and in the mobile app.

Another possibility for getting your bank account number online is downloading a copy of your electronic or paper statement. Depending on the bank, your full account number may be included here, though american federal savings bank routing number, some banks may only provide the last four digits.

How to Find Your Bank Account Number by Contacting the Bank

If you can’t view your bank account numbers online and you don’t have checks, you could ask the bank for the number. Again, you could do this by phone or in person.

Be prepared to provide proof of identity to verify your status as the account owner first. This may mean providing your Social Security or driver’s license number or answering one or more security questions.

How to Manage Routing Numbers vs. Account Numbers

Knowing your bank routing number and account numbers is important if you ever need them for specific financial transactions. But like any other financial information, it’s important to keep your details safe.

Someone could, for example, use your bank routing number and checking account number to order fraudulent checks. Or they may be able to initiate a fraudulent ACH withdrawal of money from your account.

Here are a few tips for managing routing numbers and account numbers securely:

  • Avoid writing down account numbers. Similar to your Social Security number or debit card PIN, you’re better off committing your account numbers to memory if possible.
  • Destroy voided checks. If you have to void a check for any reason, then be sure to destroy it rather than tossing it in the trash.
  • Don’t share account information. Giving out your bank account numbers to individuals or entities you don’t know can be risky. If you’re asked to share your account information, first verify that the request is coming from a trusted source.
  • Be selective about the apps you use.Personal finance apps can make managing your money easier. But they can also be targets for hackers and scammers who may use malware or phishing attacks to steal your information. So, before linking your bank accounts to an app, make sure it’s legitimate.

Aside from security, it’s also important to make sure you’re entering your routing number and account numbers correctly. Entering an incorrect routing number or account number could result in money being sent or received to the wrong account. Double-checking each set of numbers in situations where you’re required to share them for a financial transaction can help avoid banking headaches.
