There are some risks associated with changing your PlayStation ID, as not all games support the feature. PSN Name Generator

What is this tool?

It is an easy way to find a good PlayStation Network (PSN) ID that hasn't been taken by someone else. Right now there are more than 94 million active PSN accounts and probably millions more that lay dormant. As a result, finding a unique username is no easy task.

That is why I created this random PSN username generator; to help you with the task of finding a great name to represent your online gaming presence.

By default the name generator follows the following PSN username rules:

  • The online ID must be 3 to 16 characters and can consist of letters, numbers, hyphens (-) and underscores (_).
  • The first character must be a letter.
  • The online ID must not be the same as your password.
  • Letters are not case-sensitive.

To create a new list of PSN names you can tweak the settings and hit the generate button and it will return lists of phrases that have been joined together completely at random using our huge list of words.

Some people have reported that using just Latin characters to create a PSN name shows that they have been taken in many cases. To get even more random ideas you can also select options to include numbers, hyphens and underscores in the usernames.

PSN Online ID Change Rolls Out for All PS4 Owners Today

Sony's Social Media Director Sid Shuman has announced that the long-awaited option to change PSN Online IDs is now live. The option is available for all PlayStation 4 owners, not just PlayStation Plus members.

The news came in a PlayStation blog post today, along with an overview of psn online id process and some answers to anticipated questions.

The ID change feature was previously tested with PS Plus members, and a number of bugs were discovered during the testing period. Although that period seems to be over, it also seems as if those bugs are still present as well.

When the ID change option was first unveiled, Sony said all games published after April 1, 2018, would support the psn online id. That turned out not to be true during the test period, and Shuman said there are still some games that might not recognize ID changes, simply because of how the feature is incorporated at the system level.

That said, the majority of PS4 games will support the feature, and there's a list of games tested with the feature as well.

Other issues encountered during the test period included lost save and trophy data, issues with parts of an application not functioning during online or offline play, and times when the old ID would still appear.

A list of games where minor issues — old IDs showing, problems with sound, and unlinked PSN accounts — may be found here.

There are fewer games that encountered critical issues, including data and in-game currency loss, and those can be found here.

The first change is free for all users. All changes after that will incur a charge, though. It will cost $9.99 for one name change for regular users, or $4.99 for PS Plus members.

Should players encounter trouble with their new ID or wish to revert back to their old ID, they can do so for free by contacting PlayStation Support.

There are two methods for changing your PSN Online ID, via the PlayStation 4 itself or through a web browser.

  • Step 2: Select [Account Management] > [Account Information] > [Profile] > [Online ID].
  • Step 3: Enter an Online ID of your choice or choose from one of the suggestions.
  • Step 4: Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the change.

Web browser:

  • Step 4: Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the change.

Regardless of the problems that remain with the feature, it can't be denied Sony is making quite a few changes this year, from skipping E3, to centralizing distribution of digital goods. The company has even implemented a Nintendo-style direct-to-consumer presentation serieswith a host of new VR games.

PSN Name Changes Are Officially Coming

Last week, we told you that game developers were preparing for PlayStation Network name changes to arrive. Now, the news is official, with Sony announcing this morning that users will be able to change their old PSN IDs starting in early 2019.

The first change will psn online id free, Sony says, and subsequent changes will cost $10 a pop (or $5 if you’re a PlayStation Plus member). Beta testing for the service will start soon, if you’re part of PlayStation’s preview program and want to try it out.

The catch? Not all PS4/PS3/Vita games are going to support your new ID. Explains Sony:

When you change your online ID, you will have the option to display your previous ID with your new ID, so your friends can recognize you. Once you decide to display your old ID or not, you won’t be able to adjust this after completing the online ID change process.

This feature is compatible with PS4 games originally published after April 1, 2018, and a large majority of the most-played PS4 games that were released before this date. However, please note not all games and applications for PS4, PS3 and PS Vita systems are guaranteed to support the online ID change, and users may occasionally encounter issues or errors in certain games. If for any reason you experience issues after changing your ID, you can revert back to your original ID for free at any time (you will only be able to revert once during the preview program). Reverting back to an old ID will resolve most issues caused by the ID change. In addition, when this feature officially launches, a list of compatible games published before April 1, 2018, will be provided on for reference before you make psn online id change.

This has been one of the most-requested PlayStation 4 features for nearly 12 years now, since the PlayStation Network first launched in 2006.

  1. A good reason why people who commit fraud use gas stations is because when you think about it, where is the one place everyone will most likely HAVE to go to at some point? Now there are some people who don't drive cars, but the majority of us do, and a large majority of us pay at the pump. Think about this; some people shop at Target and some at Walmart. Some people go to GameStop and some people go to Barnes and Noble. If I wanted to get all those people I'd have to put a skimmer at each store. But why not make it easy? Because at some point, all of them will have to go to the gas station.
